Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is an independent administrative institution overseen by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan. The organization was founded in 2004 in order to contribute to cultivating creative human resources to support society in the next generations with abundant humanity and to accelerating international mutual understanding. JASSO plays a role as the core institution to support students in Japan and to comprehensively implement scholarship programs for Japanese students, support programs for international students, and student support programs for students in higher education.
Undergraduate scholarship for degree seeking students for Japanese students who work toward earning a degree at a university in a foreign country or region is funded by the Japanese government and will cover the expenses for study abroad.
A student (hereinafter “applicant”) wishes to win the scholarship in order to study at a foreign university . The applicant must fulfill the requirements determined by the regulations and be recommended by his/her high school’s principal.
We ask that you recommend the applicant by filling out the form as the letter of recommendation.
You can also upload the official transcript (or Chosasho) by the form.(you can send it by mail too.)

Submitted personal information is used for the scholarship “Student Exchange Support Program”. We “Japan Student Services Organization” disclose the information, if necessary, when asked by government or public service corporations to avoid duplicate benefits. We provide the information to the related organizations (e.g. schools, outsourcing contractors) for the purpose of the scholarship selection. We may publish some information which will not identify individuals (e.g. applicants’ school) on our website.
